What is the duration of hospitalisation?
After the intervention, the patient stays about three days in the intensive care unit before going to the surgical ward. Its takes about 2 weeks for the patient to start eating normally. Total hospitalisation lasts about 2 to 4 weeks. Its duration is determined mainly by the time of restoration of normal stomach evacuation.
What happens after the patient returns home?
During hospitalisation and after returning home, the patient receives physical revalidation therapy for several weeks, which helps in recoveryfrom this heavy operation. The patient visits the outpatient clinic regularly for monitoring of the physical, social and psychological recovery. When the patient has recovered sufficiently both physically and psychologically afterthe intervention, further treatment in started as required.
