Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor

Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor is a rare, aggressive cancer that has a propensity to spread to the peritoneal cavity and form multiple masses.  The most common symptoms are abdominal pain, abdominal lumps, and symptoms of intestinal obstruction. It affects young men and adolescents. Rarely it is found in women where it may be confused with ovarian cancer.

The tumor be aggressive maybe wide spread at presentation. Cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC has shown to almost double the survival in these patients and is now a frontline treatment for the same. It may be combined with systemic chemotherapy before or after the surgery.
